Engineering. Was, that is (I'll be 7 years retired a few days from now). But looking at cars from a more technical point of view predates all that.

So I was testing laps times using 2nd gear going into T9. Speeds were greater than 3rd but when tires are at the "end" 3rd seems to be more manageable.
Same sort of deal, just with "unimproved" power getting ahead of tires that are going away/greasy instead of finding more available wheel torque to get ahead of tires in better shape.

Let me put it this way . . . up to about a year before I bought my GT I had absolutely no idea that I'd ever buy a Mustang either (I was not at all impressed by 25 years of Fox and Fox-derived SN95). And at the time I'd been contributing to at least two Mustang forums and one Mustang-heavy but non Mustang-specific forum.

It's not like Camaros have never been on the radar. I liked what I read about the 3rd gen, particularly in Z/28 trim. But the kids were 11 and 7 at the time, and we'd just bought a '79 Malibu (305/4 barrel/4 speed/sport suspension) which ended up being built primarily as a corner-carver and staying with us for over 30 years. In the mid-2000's I got to drive a caged and Hoosier'ed 4th gen at autocross, but we all know how the Camaro story read.

Just have to see how life plays out, I guess. Sorry for the off-topic, Nick.

No worries Norm when it happens it happens, if it happens, and it WILL happen if you want it to happen!! Not at all judging Sir... I was serious when I said I love reading Norms responses. I think it would be a benefit to have you seated in one to use your engineer knowledge even more for us here. I truly think your contribution is already valuable, so don't stop!!
