Charity Race Event @ VIR for ALS Research
I am participating in a high performance driving event at Virginia International Raceway in order to raise awareness for ALS research on June 17th. You may have heard about ALS with the “ice bucket challenge.”
ALS TDI is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for ALS. Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease. ALS causes muscle weakness, difficulty breathing and swallowing, and paralysis. It can affect anyone, anywhere. Most people with ALS live 2-5 years after their first symptoms. Currently, there is no effective treatment or cure. ALS TDI believes ALS is not an incurable disease; it is an underfunded one. https://fundraise.als.net/racingforalsjune17/ Thanks for your consideration. Regards, Scott

that is amazing...I may have to make this happen as my uncle passed from this terrible disease in 2000. What is the format for the HPDE? Honestly, it really doesn't matter.

It is 4 groups of open track time, plus some drivers will be giving ride alongs. Sounds like 3-4 hours of track time.

Awesome...I'm close to making this happen on 6/17. I can provide ride alongs too! I've instructed at VIR previously.

Great news coverage for #davesrace and Racing for ALS
https://www.wral.com/als-diagnosis-n...ef_id=18457667 The reporter looked a little wonky in the legs after getting a hot-lap as a passenger in a Hennessey ZL1 1LE.
