Hi all,

I am committed (pledged?) to this group buy. Are most here who are pledged buying tires separately or going with the tire options listed as an accessory? I'd like to keep this set of wheels exclusively for HPDE but also want to be able to drive to the track in these tires (and handle rain if it comes up). Are the offered Michelin PS 4S the best option? Will there be other tire options through apex closer to time of production?

Seems like tirerack could be a bit cheaper or the same price for an even more aggressive track/street tire like the Pilot Sport Cup 2 (i think this is the only other track/street tire available in the sizes i want) On the other hand it is a matter of convenience of having tires and wheels ready to go out of the box and the 4S arent bad by any means.

im opting for:

19x10.0" ET20 - Front Tires 285/35-19 Michelin PS 4S

19x11.0" ET43- Rear Tires 305/30-19 Michelin PS 4S

Thoughts?

IMHO, why go to the trouble of having a set of track wheels just to run street tires?

Most DOT track tires can be driven a reasonable distance to the track. I'd be looking at tires <220TW.

This.

Pretty simple.

How about the RE-71 or R888r

I will eventually go down that road but as a beginner living in New England where half the track days i go to have a chance of rain, slicks seem like a bad idea. My understanding is that a street tire like a cup sport 2 is better at handling the rain on track anyways. Am i wrong?

Wheels just came in over the weekend! Exciting stuff. I am still in search of tires. Was ready to go with Hankook RS-4 but the rear size (305-30-19) are completely out of stock with no future date of availability. Will probably go with RE71R.

I agree with that, unless you absolutely love the look then you don't really need a spare set of track wheels/tires. The only way i can see it (and the ROI takes a while) is if you run a square setup and rotate religiously. GY SC3's are very competitive anyhow. They were only a second off pace of NT01s.

I started running scrubs this year and definitely wanted a set of extra wheels. But i agree with your point.

Damn ... I should have jumped in on this group buy pledge. I'll for sure hop on the next time they do a discount.

Can't wait to see them on your car, going to look awesome!

The RE71R is a good choice but it does wear kinda quick on these larger cars. Very fast tire, but just be aware of the low tread life.

Follow up Question, do I go with alignment specs as found in the Factory Chevy Camaro Track Prep guide or is there another recommended set up?

Thanks.

Hmm I like these. I'm trying to decide between Apex and VS Forged or possibly spending a bit more on BC Forged. Want something that can be used on the track. Apex seems compelling for the price.
