LS3/LS7 TB - Has this been tried?
I got curious as to what the GT4.R Camaro race car was using for an intake and TB and noted that it runs a factory LT1 manifold (although probably ported/worked) and, what appears to be, a LS7 TB (90MM).
Has anyone tried this on the LT1? I did do a search and didn't see any mention of this on the LT1. LS7 TB |

That certainly looks like an old LS style throttle body. But with the LT5 throttle body working just fine for us, I think it’s a moot point.

ThE GT4.R uses a Bosch controller , not the stock GM
It also only produces about 420 HP |

Looks like an adapter plate was used. Not a direct swap.

Why?
1. I was just curious. 2. From my understanding, the LT5 TB, at 95mm, just pushes the stock tunes limits on MAF and logic of some transitional tables. I figure an OEM 90mm TB might be a good choice for those not wanting to A. deviate from the stock tune or B. wants to stay with the LT1 manifold. The LT1 manifold’s inlet doesn’t accommodate anything much over 87mm without porting; even with porting, to properly match to a 95mm, you get too close to the sealing area. One of the plates behind the TB is likely a restritor; the other, probably an adapter. The GT4.R also revs to up to 7k. So, less HP but more RPM than stock and they run a 90mm, none-LT1 TB. Why? Why not just run a 87mm LT1 TB (modified or not) that bolts right up? Why not use the LT5 TB? |
