I was thinking that 600 engine was a little bit of an over estimate but using this: https://robrobinette.com/et.htm?weig...x=0&submit.y=0

Would look to be true, it takes HP, applied power over time to make trap speed... there is no fudging. Sure the car can be a little lighter with driver, I put in 3950 lbs race weight. OK then.

My ride, before blower, FBO including ported MSD, 103mm TB... vs Hellcat, it was all LT1 till I shut off at the top of 3rd.. So my car is about 3650 as it is a 1ss manual with no options, the Hellcat is what 4500 lbs (I had a supercharged Challenger since 09),... That is almost 900 lbs extra. OMG (Hellcat is an all season tire)

500 / 0.83516 = 599 crank hp.

To answer the original question.... just throw a nitrous kit on a stock car, you will be well over 500 rwhp and cheaper than anything else.
STD is unicorn HP, better to talk about actual HP or as measured CF = 1.0 would also be acceptable.

so to sum it up if you need the extra for sure no fudge 500 wheel SAE on a dynojet. You need a small cam and the cheapest conical springs probably OEM LS7, or GM performance or sum'ting cheap. Cam Motion has a set too. So without labor, $600 more. Actually not too bad on change to a AFM compatible cam, as the heads don't have to come off.

I believe you need a large cam for 600whp. Small cam would be in the 550-570whp range. Brett has all the data on his FB page. His Stage 4 cam and stage 2 heads put down 580 on a A8 in 5th gear, which would be roughly 605whp if dyno'd in 6th 1:1.

http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/eng...-lt1-cam-swap/

37 HP from a AFM cam, 50 sumthing with air filter. Actually, peak HP is around 6000 RPM... so it not very peaky, good for road race, really I would tighten the LSA to 112 to bring up the torque.

Oh and if the topic was not cheap on 500 WHP, but an optimal cam for a road race, I would pick something not too peaky and with a strong mid-range, here is a 113 grind the looks interesting. this cam would be faster in a road race or auto X, no matter the peak WHP. It will hold the rev longer, and have a HUGE midrange punch.

http://www.cammotion.com/gen5-lt-cam...238-113-5-3-5/

Oh, right, I meant 500 WHP

600 WHP with stock short block, dunno, FBO ported MSD 103mm TB, heads, big cam... 6600+ peak 7200 rev... I'd at least change rod bolts. Just don't know on this engine, as my last chevy was a LS1 and those bolts were trash. 2" headers for sure, off road or uncapped... still iffy but close. 416 no issue.

The bottom end is for sure more stout then the LS stuff. It should handle 7500 rpm in stock form. 6 bolt mains with nodular main caps, internal oil squirters, optimized crank case for improved windage control, bi-metal eccentric rod bearings that were tested at WOT for a duration of time with zero break-in, and a much improved thrust bearing which plagued LS1's. This engine is the "bees knees". The only thing limiting it's true rpm potential is the factory AFM valve train and the intake manifold. Put a high ram on it with some Johnson SLR lifters and a healthy cam... these engines will wind damn near like a Coyote 5.0.

A car making 480whp is running just that and some faster and NO WHERE near 600whp.

I was referring to weight without the driver. subtract that minus 200-250lbs of weight reduction that is pretty common across all of the current mid 10 second bolt-on cars and you are right in the ball park of what I previously stated...and none of them are close to 600whp. All 480-500whp tops.

Probably because they vary from 80 pounds to 500 pounds?

Everything listed is several thousands of dollars. “Least expensive” is the question, cheap is impossible
