They were annoying on the LFX also... Except they were still vertical instead of horizontal like your pic. The nice thing is that they won't have to be put back in until done swapping intakes. They don't really serve a purpose that keeps the car running, so just leave them out until testing is done.

He is also working on a ported throttle body. I am sure we will hear something as soon as he has some info.

Unfortunately I ruined the first intake I was working on... There is so much more filler needed compared to the LFX intake manifold that I couldn't get all the filler material into the intake and let it flatten out before it started to harden, so it had to be junked.

I ordered another intake manifold and had to start over, and order a similar filler with a longer pot life. I'm about mid way through the initial modifications that take place before adding the filler, and I want to try to find a really good way to get the filler into the intake before it starts to set up.

Set backs suck and in this case, were costly. We'll get it right.

Got a good fill today on the new LGX intake with the slower curing filler. Still a big PITA though.

I've got 3 LFX intakes to finish for customers first and then I can finish up this LGX intake and get it mailed out for testing.

Reduces turbulence by filling voids, increased velocity and airflow

LGX intake manifold in hand!!

I've finished porting the LGX intake manifold, and I'm very happy with the flow bench results. The ported intake flows 21% better than the stock intake (also 11% better than my ported LFX manifold).

Some better pictures below of before and after the filling process.

Before pics

After pics

Now there is a nice smoooooth intake floor.

The LGX has a pretty bad short turn radius overhang problem on the bottom, unlike the LFX intake. So I had to fix this problem.

Customers regularly tell me that the LFX ported intake has made the most noticeable improvement on their 5th gen v6... I'm hoping, like the LFX, that the LGX wants more air.

Just some final clean up on this intake and I'll be sending it out on Friday for testing.

All of this makes so much more visual sense about filling the floor.

I remember in the standard abrasives diy porting kit they talked about not touching the floor of the heads when porting the intake on most heads, I'm assuming this is the same premise of

-cleaning up the flashing from casting

-keeping the volume overall volume low so air can keep or raise velocity

Am I close?

Very interested in how the testing goes with this.

Only thing that would make me not want it (other than actually ending up hurting performance ...heh ) is if someone came out of the blue with a supercharger that sits in place of it.

Had a nice little surprise on my doorstep when I arrived today!

Jason already posted up photos of what he did to it so I won't bore you all with a bunch of repeats.

Going to go install this right now. Will do a few 0-80 pulls on the highway onramps and report back.
