Very slight noise when wheels fully turned

I put 18" snow tires on and when I have them full turned right, the left wheel will make a quiet clicking sound only once per rotation, and when fully turned left, the right wheel does the same thing. I think it might be the weights in the inside of the rim clicking against the plastic piece in right by the brake rotor? What do you guys think? Just leave it? Or maybe cut the plastic piece? Or could it be something else?

I'd jack up the car and spin them and see what you find.

Google Ackerman effect....the Vette does it all the time, so does a brand new 911......is your new tire wider than the stock tire?

Does the 6th gen camaro use ackerman steering? Anyone else get this at max turn at slow speeds?

it's not a option, it's an effect....your new tires are "skipping".

It's an effect if it uses ackerman steering. A car doesn't have to use ackerman steering (but most do).

Nevertheless, it'll be there on these tires....esp in the cold, it's much worse when tires are hard....

There are cars without Ackerman steering. The wheels would both turn the same angle, therefore going around turns causes the inner tire to slip and cause extra heat. Ackerman steering is just a type of geometry the car is designed to follow for steering. The Ackerman effect is the result of having ackerman steering, which causes the wheel to jump at low speeds like you said. Most cars only use partial ackerman steering so they don't get a noise. But cars like the corvette that use pure ackerman for maximum track performance don't care about slow parking lot speeds so they have the worst effect.

Yeah, it's definitely worse at cold temps with hard tires. I'm going to try it later in a muddy parking lot

the ackerman effect -for chev -is to get a smaller turning radius, not any track abilities...(at least that what gm execs say at the vette fest)

Bumping this old thread because I have this issue and can't diagnose it just yet.

I picked up stock LS '16 wheels and tires to put on my 1LE for the winter. I had the dealer install them today so I can take delivery tomorrow. I received a call from my salesman saying the tires wouldn't fit (which I knew was false).

The service manager showed me that the wheel weights on the 18" tires were hitting the brake shield/cooling shield when turning and made a loud clicking noise. He said the weights were the slimmest ones and recommended I trim the plastic shield about 1/8" inch once I get it home.

Has anyone else had this issue? What did you do? Would front spacers solve this issue?

Good to know what its called.. i though i had bad wheel bearing or broken swaybar link.. jacked car end, took wheels off, everything tight.. continue until it gets louder .

Exactly as described, low speed, COLD tires, you get a pop or light noise from front end.
