Anyone own both and have input?
Stock M6 ZL1 - I only get 19 freeway and 14 city.

I know this is counter intuitive, but if you put carbon rotors on these cars you can drop significant weight and get better MPG. I did this with my viper, went from solid rotors to two-piece Stoptech, dropped nearly 10lbs per wheel, so about 40lbs. Improved my MPG by .5 - 1 mpg. And improvements of handling, acceleration, braking, etc.

So if you can score the rotors for cheap or decently priced its a good buy imo. This is for people who DO NOT track their cars.

Must Put in Gas?

This is probably not the car to be worried about gas mileage. All of my last LSx vehicles gave me about 15-16 MPG. When I had an LS2 with an M6, I managed 29 MPG on a long distance trip. Given how much power you have on tap, 16 MPG isn't that bad at all.

Forgot about MPG's..... stick to the SPG's.... Smiles Per Gallon. That's what really counts.

I've had both and recorded real world mpgs for all my vehicles and every fill up since 2009.

2018 SS 1le 6sp = 16.972 mpg
2017 ZL1 6sp = 14.748 mpg

My ZL1 MPG counter has never been reset in 6,100 miles and it says 15mpg. I switched it over to instant reading today and was able to see 2mpg a few times when laying into it lol.

Yeah the ZL1 has a lower MPG. The SS has that "feature" that has cylinder deactivation with the automatic transmission so it's factored in the numbers. I had a 2016 SS and moved on to a ZL1 and it was noticeable.

I had 2016 2ss as my DD. Average little over 22 MPG. It was 70 miles Round trip both city and highway driving. My Zl1 averages 20. Both are auto.
I haven’t been driving nutty lately with it. Zl1 use to average 19.
But I get why others ZL1s are less if they track it or only do city driving.

That's nice, mine never went below 4 mpg, at least not when I was watching, heh

My ZLE is the first car I can get in the 4's for MPG on the track. The Camaro SS 1LE would do 6 MPG. The 2008 Corvette Z51 was in the upper 5s MPG. Keeping it full of fuel is a legit job when my son and I run it in two run groups. We can get 2 sessions on a tank. Totally stock car on Michelin slicks.

I’m getting between 12-16 on the gauge around town. Full tank range just under 250 miles vs 375 give or take in the SS. Maybe I’ve chosen… poorly. Lol

Less than 5 mpg: badge of honor

My "SS" is similar in city driving, 15-17 mpg on the gauge, but on the highway I still get 26-27 mpg if I do the speed limit in 8th at 1400-ish rpm. Same highway consumption used to be 29-30 mpg before the mods (which also turned AFM off). No regrets whatsoever.
