Improve air flow.

How many people have removed the plastic piece on the front crash bar. I was thinking of removing mine and the adding supporters in for the front bumper cover?

It seems contoured for airflow, so it didn't occur to me that it would be much help. Interesting...

Are you talking about the plastic snow deflector?

If this is for a ZL1, GM's engineers have stated that the front plastic bumper cover (the black piece behind the grille that covers the actual bumper bar) was designed in a wind tunnel, and essentially makes the bar invisible from an aero perspective, so it's like its not even there. So, there's no need to remove it for cooling or aero perspective. I can't remember which site I read it on, but it was legit.

If the Op has a 5th gen then it might be different in the front of a 6gen. I installed a SLP CAI on my 5th gen and it made a huge difference to me anyway.

If you’re talking about the rain/snow deflector, I removed mine three years ago. Mate it with a high flow drop-in filter like the Green and the OEM intake will rival any aftermarket cold air intake in performance

Is it true that the ZLE does not have this?

What kind of improvement are you looking for? Better cooling? Are you having cooling issues?

Air flow

I’ve had the car nose over on the big end at the track1/4 mile. It was about 88 deg out. So I installed all 3 heat exchangers. From afco. And installed the Cordes 2 1/2 gal front tank Car makes 735 rwhp. Hopefully this helps. I’ll know this summer. I just think there is a lot of blockage through the front area. Of the car at the grill with the crash bar and bumper. But I’m use to old cars. With high hp motors.

no, not true. Same plastic bit on my '21 ZLE. I trimmed it when I had the front fascia removed.

Yeah pull the snow deflector and throw a green filter in and call it a day.
