The best thing to do is make sure it isn't a Tesla Plaid. Because ain't nobody beating them things at any starting speed.

Agreed. No big power car will voluntarily do a 30 roll race on the street, there’s just no traction. Even 40 is considered very low to start.

This is the key to the hit - you have to be in the lowest possible gear or else mine will downshift one gear when I shift to Drive and roast the tires. 60 mph at ~5000 rpm should do it.
Of course, since, depending on your car's power, a 60-130 only takes 5-7 seconds, you can chose to make the hit in manual using HUD and make the 3-4 shift manually when you see the red warning lights, and not have to deal with kicking it into Drive.

With the 10-speed, wouldn't it mostly depend on having it in the right gear? You don't want it in a gear so high that you're shifting shortly after, but you also don't want to be on the low end of the rev range, right? I say go drive at each of the speeds you asked about, and see where the transmission has the RPM at each speed. Look for the sweet spot based on peak TQ and that'll let you know where to start (pun intended).

I can't tell you how many times I practiced this because it totally makes sense, but reality is that 1st shift comes too quick and then getting it back in auto is a hit and miss. Quote:

Again, all of this depends on the car. In my case, a 60-130 takes around 6 seconds. All I have to do is get to 60 mph at around 5000 rpm in Manual, make the hit, leave it in manual and make the one shift when I see red lights on my HUD. Any shift to Auto is problematic.
Of course the 87a TCM can be tuned to make these shifts while in Manual mode.

I also agree 100% with your method for manual, and I mentioned as well that shifting to auto is hit and miss. But bliping the throttle gets you in that 4,500 range and leave it in auto is pretty fool proof. Advantage to doing it in manual the RPMs will hold as long as you want. |

We are. I referred to whether it was bone stock or any one of a gazillion different builds.

Its the slower cars that typically go from a lower speed roll or dig on the street You can also do your own testing with a Dragy device to see what works best for practice https://www.google.com/search?q=Dragy+gps

Some people tend to shut down when youre about to drive around them and then say they won but in reality they wouldnt of. Make sure you agree on top speed shut down.
