Evaporator is on the low pressure side of the system, if there were a restriction after the core causing high pressure it would blow hot air.....exactly the way your heat pump at home does.

The evap goes through thermal shock constantly from maybe 160 f to 30 f in a matter of seconds. Probably has some effect on welds or joints constantly expanding and contracting.
