Love the car, hate the raspy sound. Which exhaust to buy?

2021 2SS A10 1LE NPP. Exhaust is ok except for on startup and when it shifts gears. I’ve read through many of the threads here already. I have had previous experience with 2 non-NPP systems on my C6 Corvette, a Borla touring that sounded great but droned with my A6 transmission. Went to a Corsa, didn’t like the sound as good but didn’t drone. I assume that if I went with the Borla S-type (don’t see the touring version offered) it wouldn’t drone with NPP. Also, I rented a Hertz Hendrick Camaro before I purchased mine and whatever exhaust they used on it sounded great. Would like to know what that system was. To sum it up, looking for a mild exhaust that will get rid of the raspy sound. Thanks in advance.

Borla touring is the S-Type with their resonator (60608) installed.

There's no drone on the new set-ups. Borla has done their research. I love my ATAK.

I know exactly what you mean. GM spent so much time and effort on some of the small sound details and tuning the NPP valves but for whatever reason completely ignored the horrible sounding poppy raspy farty noises at WOT and startup. For whatever reason, once you go about about 80% throttle the sound goes from really smooth, too poppy and blatty raspy.

Most people on here aren't bothered by it and most of them probably just want it to be as loud as possible.

I wonder if the system in the Hertz car was just a regular non NPP? I'm not sure what they put in those cars though.

You don't need a new exhaust..to get rid of the rasp cut out the X-Pipe and replace it with an H-Pipe. Much better less rasp sound and less Rev hang.

The Camaro 6 book, states they spent two months tweaking just to get that sound on startup. They wanted all to notice per Al H. Chief engineer , done for a reason. But I understand it might not be for all.

I added resonators to my X-pipe to get rid of the raspy sound. The raspy sound was annoying after I installed my aftermarket ARH system.

I love how GM tuned the car to start up with a roar, pops, gurgles...it turns heads at the gas pump 😀

I bet Al's first car was a Honda Civic with a card board wing and a Coffee Can muffler.

Agreed, everyone I’ve spoken to that’s heard mine thinks it sounds odd.

Interesting. Have you done this and if so did you buy the h-pipe or have it made?

I haven't done it. A few clips on the internet on them doing it.
Here is one with a Borla exhaust, but I heard one with the stock NPP that sounded just as good, if not better.

They used the GM Performance Exhaust on them. I've rented quite a few along with the ZL1. I made a video of one of the SS's I rented, link in my signature.

I've always been an MBRP fan for deep, throaty exhaust sound. But I've heard Borla is good too. MBRP is more budget friendly tho

All I can say is when I hit the remote start button on my ZL1 is that 20 people jump and their jaws hit the floor......and its stock.
