thoughts on swapping to powerglide

like the title says. I'm tossing around the idea of swapping to a glide. will most likely be a bte with a 1.69 or 1.80 straight cut gearset. I will be swapping to a 3.23 rear over the current 3.73 rear end as well.

the reason for thiking this is I would be having the car caged very soon( getting quotes right now) and adding a parachute in prep for being legal. I anticipate the car to trap 155-160 range.

big cubic inch, big turbo(s) undecided on all of that at this moment in time...

thoughts?

Do it, you wont regret it. boost + 2 speed auto, the car should fly.
Just remember go to with an aftermarket case for the trans

That's the same direction I am going towards since my rpm built 6 speed trans is starting to give out on me

Do it.

Something happened the other night while datalogging to my car. I think the clutch let go (Triple RPS-no crunchy noises anywhere. Engine just revs and there is an occasional metal on metal squeal from the clutch/front of trans area) I've got other things going on so I haven't taken the trans out yet.

When I figure out what the deal is, I'm going to decide whether to rebuild the clutch/trans or auto swap to a 4L80 or TH400. Trans is already a Lvl 6 RPM.

yes! I'm looking at the bte racing powerglide, it's 2400hp rated and not badly priced. I don't think I'll have any issue getting rid of my 4l80 stuff

Why not a th400 if my 4l80 fails that's what I'm swapping to. They're cheap and very durable plus you'll enjoy that extra gear.

weight and at that power level there's no need for the extra gear really. lots of guys are picking up et with a glide over a 4l80/th400 in strictly drag form.
