ls1 pistons same as ls3 ??

im looking to buy some forged pistons , im looking at a certain part number , one website says it fits ls1 , ls2 ,ls3 the other says ls1 ls2 ???

and whats stock rod lenth ? thanks

I believe rod lengths are the same for both. Bore is significantly smaller in the LS1

Theyre not even close to the same piston. Everything except the 4.8 and 7.0 have the same rod length. The bore is what is different between most of the engines. Shops that have things labeled LS1, LS2, LS3 dont know what theyre doing. LS3 bore is 4.065, LS1 is 3.898. Stock rod length is 3.622.

Umm the bores differ, the architecture and dimensions of the block are the same.

you have to tell them what size bore you want when you order them

YES I KNOW THE BORE SIZE A DIFFERENT BUT I FOUND A CERTAIN PISTON THAT I LIKE WITH THE RIGHT BORE SIZE , BUT IT SAYS IT FITS LS1 LS2 . THEN ANOTHER SITE THAT HAS THE SAME PISTON WITH SAME PART NUMBER SAYS IT FITS LS1 .LS2 LS3

What do you think determines the compatibility? the SIZE.


Throwing an LS1 piston into an LS3 block would be like throwing a hot dog down a hall-way.
