Another Dog for the Kennel

I've been casually shopping for one of these but it needed to be a minimal effort purchase. This "cute little sports car" showed up locally and I decided to pull the trigger. '03 Z06 w/495 HP GM Crate LS3, many track oriented upgrades, nice condition and a reasonable price. Several nuisance maintenance items for me to address but nothing money and time can't conquer. Car was previously tracked in Georgia so I have no qualms about doing some Auto X to work out the bugs and then do a few track days as the budget allows. Santa suggested I buy this to keep me from being naughty with the Z!

Nice!
I have a miniature version of almost the same car.

This past Saturday I did my first track day at Wild Horse Pass Main Track. What a blast!!! This car exceeded my expectations. I've ridden with two other experienced fellows and they made it look fairly easy but guess what? IT'S NOT! By the end of rookie class day I was well worn (close to being worn out!). Got another track day approaching and I'm already getting pumped! On a side note, there is no way in Hell I'll do this with my Z/28. Can't afford the race maintenance up keep AND if I (or someone else) damages the car I'd be emotional devastated.

That's too bad, and I get it, but your Z is made to do exactly that.

I know. If I could have the track to myself for a lap or two I would. As it was there were 4 wrecks, 2 C5 Vettes kissed the wall due to a slippery track and a couple of daily driver sedans (maybe a Focus and some sort of Hyundai) bounced around and may have been totaled. If I had the Z/28 there I would have cancelled the pizza and punched out. I've really connected with the Z doing Auto X and I know I'd probably drive the road course until I ran out of gas or somebody chased me off the track. The Z/28 is a fantastic vehicle.

Is it just me or three of these cars have the same black wheels? The design is common, HD wheels have the same pattern on their clutch model.

Very nice! My boss has a 2002 Z06 that he let me drive and it was a real blast. Those 405hp badges are a bit misleading in your case haha. Did the original LS6 blow up?

The LS3 was installed 2 owners ago so I can only assume some sort of mechanical catastrophe. Somebody spent some good coin transforming this car into a track machine but as with any track vehicle there is always more to spend. I sometimes joke that this car is just a giant shop vac that attaches itself to my wallet every time I walk by!
