tires/traction?

So I found me a car to buy out of town (200 miles away). I am supposed to pick it up this weekend. The weather is supposed to call for some light snow turning to rain as it warms up. It will not be raining when i come home but it may be wet in spots.
My questions is how do the F1 Goodyear tires hold up on highway driving with possible wet conditions? will I lose traction? should I wait for a dry day to pick it up?

I drove my ZL1 home in the rain 300 miles last March(no snow)and I had to be careful with the throttle! The rain was off and on and when I was driving south thru Atlanta it was raining pretty hard so I just had to slow down and be careful especially with all the idiots flying by me on I-85. I think you will be okay but it’s up to you but just be careful and aware of the road conditions before driving home!

Wet weather under 50* is going to be borderline dangerous on the stock GYs. Keep your speeds down and leave plenty of stopping distance.

You will lose traction if you hydroplane even a little bit, but you should anticipate it, slow down and you'll be all right.

If you want to daily drive the car, I recommend that you switch to Michelin PS4S tires, those will be rock solid in any weather all the way down to 40 degrees while almost as good in dry traction.

I was looking at some Continental tires, it tells me the size willnot fit the car, but if i put in the front size it does. But they make it for the rear. Any idea why?

Assuming it's a regular ZL1, the front tire sizes are different from the rear. It's possible Continental makes the front size you need, but not the rear.

It should be:

285/30/20 Front
305/30/20 Rear

Tire Rack has them listed front and rear for our ZL1s! Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires are good summer tires and have a real good treadwear rating-340!

I don't trust the oem tires in the rain. The only way to survive is to treat rain like ice. They don't channel water at all so minor puddles are real real bad. If you have to drive in it, for sure use wet mode.

What he said :...,
If you have the newer 3r’s , avoid the rain if at all possible. I found the hydroplaning speed to be about 40mph.... on my drive home from the dealer !

I drove my 2019 ZL1 / LE home a couple months back on the OEM Goodyears. It was about 40 degrees that day, all interstate miles and it was a handful. Im assuming the temperature was the cause. The tires were like plastic. I wont be keeping them on come spring. I noticed they kick up a ton of gravel also. Ill be tire shopping in a few months.

If the roads are wet, keep it under 50mph.

The OEM tires will try to kill you in the rain.
