Car is 5 months old with just about 4,000 miles on it and I now have to replace the windshield. It may not cost me a dime, other than replacing the tint, but man is it killing me right now. This is why I can't have nice things.

With how low these cars sit, it seems almost inevitable sometimes. Good luck with replacement.

Sorry to hear about it man but s**t happens when driving on the roads! You should be able to file a claim on your auto insurance depending on your deductible! If you have $1000 deductible then it might be better to pay out of pocket! It sucks but that’s the way it goes. Good luck!

Insurance companies are required to fix it for free in Florida, but that still doesn't take the sting out.

Sorry to see that. You may want to consider “tear-offs” on your new windshield. I did it when I first got mine. Not implying it would have saved you from getting a cracked windshield but it saves you from pitting and is added protection from rocks and debris. Once that tear-off gets pitted or worn out you just rip it off and it’s like you have a new windshield. I spent $300 on 2 layers and feel it was definitely worthwhile. The guy that did my PPF installed it.

Safelite quote is $650 :( I don't have free glass replacement insurance here in GA.

Happen to me the day I took delivery of my car, I was pretty upset too but the insurance covered a oem replacement and they did it in a hour right in my garage in front of me.

No we sure don’t have windshield replacement here in Georgia without paying for it! Rocks and debris fly up from vehicles tires on the highway. Thank goodness I haven’t had any chips or cracks yet from at least 2 flyups on the windshield on my ZL1 lately!

Wow that's some terrible luck. Couldn't imagine how much more angry I'd be if it happened on the day I took delivery.
