I test drove a Scat Pack Challenger today. It was the lower optioned model with clothe seats. They are willing to deal, Wheel and brake package included was 33K List was 45K. Doesn't hold a candle to the ZLE, I know I shouldn't compare the 2, car felt pretty quick but its a lot bigger then the Camaro.

And they go 0% for 84 months. The Scat Pack is probably one of the best vehicles you can buy $ for $.

Your ZLE is in a class by itself pauly!! The Challenger Scat Pack is a good deal for the money!

I'd consider how long you expect to drive that commute. I had a similar stupid long commute of 150 miles round trip, avg 4 days a week (~40k miles/year) for a few years. I drove that for a while in a CTS-V (LT4) and it was a complete waste of money - depreciation due to the miles racking up and fuel for a thirsty V8 and you can't use the power!

If you didn't have the ZL1 already, then I could see an argument for the LT1 or 2SS as a do-all car that you could rack up the miles. But since you already have a Camaro, if it were me, I'd be looking for something fun but cheap to rack up miles on the commute. Like a turbo 4 something (Subaru, Camaro T4, Focus ST, GTI, Civic Si/R, etc). I learned I got much more benefit from the creature comforts and overall ride than power when rolling up miles like that. You'll spend a lot of time in the car so it better be something you like and are comfortable. The best commuter car I had was actually a VW Passat TDI. It was loaded with all the comfort features and got 45+ MPG, was large, comfy, quiet, and relatively cheap. I could almost pay for the car in fuel savings! But it was not fast.

If you are dead set on another V8 for the commuter car, then I think a used Challenger would be the best option. Think about how many miles you'll put on this car in a few years. If it is only 160 miles 2x a week then that's under 20k/year - not terrible. What other miles will you drive? Will that increase? Depreciation is expensive. Your C5 is a good option too.

They did everything they could do but lock me in the dealer. I just didn't want to make a first look purchase and get some feedback from the forum. They kept dropping a 1K every time I went to leave. Id like to compare some other cars and see whats out there.

I understand but I still say that a LT1 Camaro might be your best option for a DD Camaro since you want a V8!

Yeah, a V8 Challenger is not a bad idea.

Actually, if it's strictly for DD and you need to transport more than one passenger, then I'd also consider the Charger R/T or Scat Pack. I myself am not a fan of their interior and have some concerns about reliability (although I only drove a V6 Charger, not a V8), but going by the contents offered and the price, it looks like a fair choice.

I think the LT1 & your ZL1/1LE are fairly different beasts. If it were me I would buy an LT1 for daily driving.

I was the same, wouldn’t be happy with anything other than a V8 as a daily, but needed more utility as well. A well optioned Sierra crew cab fit the bill for me. Great ride, but wow do I appreciate the ZL1 when I have the chance to take her out!
