I purchased my first muscle car 44 years ago and I've been reading about modifications long before that time. People like Ted offer extensive free advise on this forum. His names is one of the ones I look for when I hope to learn something reading this forum. I've purchased multiple times from a "big box" supplier. I can tell you from experience, if you have problems with a part and call their "support" line, it can be a less that favorable experience because you saved $2.00. On the other hand, the local mechanic I use, if I'm not doing the work myself is an x-Pro Stock racer. His shop has a machine shop, dyno facility, etc. He does not advertise, it's not easy to find his shop and he's not cheap but boy is he good. I get exactly what I pay for there. Please continue to post Ted as I will continue to absorb your fee consulting services Sir. This post is not intended to offend anyone in any way and I hope it is received as such.
Thank you for your support.

This is not only my business it is my passion, I love the forums and love helping people to an extent there is a realization that If I don't make a profit I won't be here next week.

Ted.

I found all the parts for my lt4 sc conversion and although it wasn't easy it definitely was a lot of information spread out. I bought a few different parts from various vendors even ADM. I have definitely saved money but by that same statement I had no reservations that I could directly get each and every part number that others had researched and completed by just asking on a forum.

It would have been nice but I learned far more and found various upgraded parts that overall makes my build better like a cheap ATI damper and pulley/gates belt etc etc. It is obvious everyone wants paid for their time but each and everyone running a business has to define their own terms for whats shared and whats kept in a package to profit from. I pulled my info from 4 different forums in random posting, looking up schematic diagrams of zl1s in identifix/alldata, and cross references to gm part numbers from them.

Agree 100%. No business puts their net cost on an estimate, and auto body shops don’t do it either. The whole point of being in business is to put food on the table. Last I checked, UNICEF doesn’t do hot roddling.

If the OP wants to figure it out on his own, fine. But expecting a vendor to offer a bunch of expertise without ever making any money is not fine.

I really do see both sides making valid points in some of their posts. It’s true this is a forum and the idea is to exchange ideas and experience freely.
