What a crazy drive it was started out ok , then I am driving into a light show in the sky .it got worse , the wind picked up then hail and torrential rain .I could not pull over as I could not see anything at times . After waking up an electrical supplier for fuses I headed to our cottage an 1/2 hr away as the power had been out since 4 pm. we got the generator out as hydro said power would be out till later Monday . So at 330 am I got to use the generator for the first time in 10 yrs since owning it for the sole purpose it was bought for . I grabbed a couple of hrs of sleep then headed back this morning home . we got lucky some branches came down , a dead tree on the lot beside us came down to the property line . one confirmed F2 tornado damaged 5 police cruiser at a stn . as of this post hydro says power won't be restored to our cottage area till 6pm tonight . Glad we keep extra gas for these situations .I don't know if I will be busy when the other effected areas get their power back on or not time will tell . Not sure what is worse driving in a blizzard or hail storm and wind ? guess that the view out the windshield can be the same .
Hail is more scary to me for sure but neither is a good choice.

So happy to hear you got this good news Skip! Now just relax for a couple of days & get ready for a bunch of fun!!! See you there too Diane.

One more day of work tomorrow then a day or trying to see if we can sort out all the roadblocks associated with the Trust the farm was in so we can actually deposit the $ is dad's account or in a trust account so we can use it to care for him. Right now we have a big check that we can't do anything with. Grrrrrr! Red tape sucks!

Then....................................FEST TIME!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Congrats Skip!

We made it to Springfield, MO and are staying at the Lamplight Inn, cheap but nice place. I can keep an eye on the car here.

We started out running from a nasty looking storm in Frankfort, KY today. To avoid rush hour in Louisville, we stopped and ate at a Cracker Barrel. Afterwards, we knocked off serious mileage through Indiana and Illinois. The first attached photo is of a used car lot with a needy Grand Prix for sale. The others are of St Louis, MO. Bryan took some more with my camera, which I will post when we return.

Impala is still knocking down 17 MPG, and now I would like to find an air filter for it. Not clogged, but time for replacement. It's actually loosening up and running better. Rides so smooth too.

Had some very minor repairs to do in the motel parking lot. No big deal, but could have caused issues down the road.

Tomorrow we head to OKC driving on Rt66. This should be awesome!

I was kind of iffy about coming until a couple of weeks ago, but I'll tell you the story when I get there.

Looking forward to seeing some old farts, old friends and make some new ones too. Jan, I know you'll be pretty busy while we're there

Good morning. I sure wish we could have the weather from last week for the Fest but not looking like we will. Looks like triple H (hot, humid & hazy) with some rain chances but not a wash out. Last work day for me & scheduled to be busy if everyone shows up.

The banks are giving us 6 kinds of h-e-double hockey sticks over the check to the farm. It had to be made out to the trust that the farm was in. Since daddy is still living he is first trustee but he is of course incapacitated. That leaves my sisters & me as secondary but they want us to have 2 certified letters from 2 doctors worded exactly like in the trust served to him (as if he would have any idea what they are) before we can do anything with the check. How stupid is that? That is just part of the hassle. We are hoping we can get it dealt with tomorrow but we may not be able to. Have a good day all.

Made it to Mustang, OK and visited a friend. Had a great time driving on Rt. 66. Bryan took most of the photos which I will post when I return home.

Impala was still doing great until I arrived here at the motel. A brake line from the master cylinder to the distribution block on the frame ruptured. NO BRAKES. This may have been a sign, as it DID happen on the parking lot instead of on the road and there is an O'Reilly next door and a NAPA across the street. I also have AAA.

I could repair this myself if I were home. Didn't bring lots of tools with me.
