Opinion on switching cars?

Hey guys,

So I got into a very unfortunate accident a couple days ago with the Camaro. It's not looking good at all in terms of the car, and it might get totaled out by the insurance. At this point, I've dumped quite a bit of money into the car and I'm paying quite a bit a lot for it in terms of insurance and car payments.

Now, if the car does get totaled out (luckily I have GAP as well to reduce any headaches), I was actually thinking of getting a C6 Corvette. Lot less expensive on a monthly basis in terms of payments and modifying the car is A LOT cheaper. But I feel like I'd be downgrading from a 2017 to a 2007-2011 car (going for the LS3).

What do you guys think? Grab another 1ss and take out the parts I put in my current one that can be saved or head the C6 route and make the power goals I wanted in the Camaro for a lot cheaper?

Money isn't an issue per say, I've been fine with the expenses of the SS, but I figured why not save a couple coins on a C6.

My goals for either car is it becoming a 9 second car, but also daily driveable(ish) lol. And also, taking turns decently.

both cars are very capable of that my only reason for picking the SS over the C6 would be the modern interior but other than that C6 would be the better platform.

YES! That's what's really got me torn. I love the SS interior and things like apple car-play, but I can definitely live without them if I had to.

C6 vettes are awesome, but the interiors are garbage. Id take an LT1 camaro over an LS3 vette all day long. A vette with an LS7 though... Bye bye camaro!

I sold my C6 Grand Sport for the SS 1LE. After driving both for awhile now I'd pick the 1LE over again, BUT it is very close!!!

C6 is one heck of a car, you really can't go wrong bud

I feel your pain my car was rear ended just after breaking 1k miles. No frame damage just a trashed bumper, exhaust and some tweaked panels. Got it back a couple of weeks ago and am on the fence about keeping it. Honestly with the gap I hope they total it out for you so you can get a fresh start.

This is definitely a tough choice. The key factor that makes me lean in the Vette direction is "the build" aspect. I think building a C6 Z06 power platform would be on par with a SS 1LE.

I drove several Vettes from C5 Z06 to C6 Z06 just recently. During a test drive seesion, I actually stepped out of a 2007 C6 Z06 with 7k miles right into a 2016 1SS with 10k miles and loved the SS. So I ended up buying a 1SS with 920 miles. Imo the only upgrade from a SS is a C7 Stingray, 6g ZL1, or C7 Z06.
