I would think the older car on a day to day basis would make you really miss your new car.

Go test drive a C6 and see how it makes you feel.

Maybe hunt around and try to find a better deal on a new SS?

A 9 second daily driver that's reliable and comfortable is going to be tough. If you're ok with the creature comfort downgrade then the C6 is easily the better choice if you want to go fast for cheap. Go find a few and see what you think. You can take advantage of depreciation instead of being a victim to it yet again.

My goals for either car is it becoming a 9 second car, but also daily driveable(ish) lol. And also, taking turns decently.
If money isn't an issue, get a C7.

Get the new one, buy the wrecked one back from the insurance company in the cheap. Pull your mod parts for the new car, part out the wrecked one and use the proceeds for more mods on the new one.

Heres hoping yours gets totalled out. I was only in an accident recently (someone ran a red light and I hit their drivers side). My car was not written off but had 13.5k worth of damage to the front. I had also just signed two weeks prior for a new C7 to be factory ordered that I would trade in the Camaro on. I cannot claim diminshed value because Canada so I essentially have to eat the loss myself when It comes to trade in.

I hope your ordeal goea your way. For what you want to do with the car I would go for the C6, however I agree with everyone that you would enjoy the SS better due to the modern interior.

I feel your pain Danny. My '16 was involved in a head accident last November and when it was all said and done the damage was about $18,000.00. Major front end damage on passenger side and both side airbags deployed in addition to the passenger front seat side bolster and right side suspension pieces and wheel. Mine was repaired by my insurance company and took the body shop about 2 months to repair because some parts were back ordered due to it being a new model car. The car drives just like it did before the accident and really not glad it was a total because of money that I put down and it still had to be paid off. I know it has diminished value and probably listed on car fax too but I couldn't afford another new SS. So just wait and see if yours is a total as it might be repaired if the damage is not too bad. And on the subject of a Corvette I think I would move up to a C7 over a C6 if it were me. They cost more but it's a newer platform and parts are coming out albeit slowly to mod them. Also, do you have any pics you can post of your SS with the damage? Good luck!!

Having come from a 2012 Grand Sport Camaro; It will largely depend on how you use it. Comfort, road noise technology, infotainment etc. in the Vette are way behind the Camaro. Performance wise, they are very close with the edge going to the Camaro. The C6 Vettes, especially the wide body Grand Sport and Z06 are beautiful and still very cool looking, but I wouldn't go back to the Grand Sport after having the Camaro. The Camaro is just a better all around car than the last generation Vette. If track days are your thing, or the once in a while sunny day is all you'll use it, the Vette will feel more "special".

Well, if it were me getting a Vette I would just go with a 63' split window coupe.

Hey guys, so to clarify stuff. I've actually owned a C6 for about 2 weeks (loooooong story) lol. Loved the car, and I can make due without the nice things in the 1SS, so what I'm basically asking is am I going to be saving a drastic amount on mods on the LS3 platform to make lets say 700WHP?

How are you going to make a 9 second car streetable? That would be one radical ride for the street. Personally, if I were shooting for 9's, it would be a track only toy.

Im not really a fan for the C6's. Maybe a early C7, but I personally don't believe the C6 truly dominates the 6th Gen SS in terms of performance like so many think. I believe they're very close.

C6 z06; anything else would be a LONG and expensive journey for what you want, you're practically there with a z06. Add some sticky R-compounds and slap on some mechanical bolt-ons. It's got a factory weight reduction & you're talking about an ls7 pushing 3100lbs vs lt4 pushing 3700 lbs.
