The v6 isn't much different. Having more than 4 gears in the transmission does wonders.

Getting 30mpg at 80mph + having a sub 6 second 0-60. modern technology is gewd.

This is on a toll road near Austin. The place where Hennessey did the 202 in a Gen5 ZL1 and 220 in a twin turbo CTS-V. Most of the interstates in Texas are either 70 or 75 with a few in west Texas set at 80. Of course, "Mexico" isn't that far away.

ZL1 is geared different.. even worse in ZLE. 2500 rpms at 80mph.. fun for sure.

My friends E46 M3 is equally stable.. but the engine spins at 4K to do 100 mph.

It wasn't in my 2016 SS. 90 mph was dead on 2,000 rpms. In my 2018 SS 1LE it's just above 2,000 rpms in 6th gear.

Most of the rural interstates are 75 with San Antonio and Houston having the lower 70 - 65 MPH zones, that 65 zone between Houston and Beaumont on I-10 is ridiculous for that road. DFW lets you do 75 on I-635, the bypass, and 80 if you use the LBJ Toll Lanes on I-635.

I-10 and I-20 west of San Antonio and DFW are 80.

Whats even cooler though is these speed zones aren't restricted to just interstates or tollroads... you can get off at a local surface state road and find yourself in a 75 MPH zone, like TX 71 or U.S. 290, ect.

I love Texas. It will be hard to move back to America if i ever have to leave this state.

michigan has roads with 80mph speed limits.

most states though, the speed limit is the speed that traffic is moving at. In california, if you are lucky enough to not be jammed, it's about 80mph.

It's much more likely that you'll be pulled over and ticketed for going too fast or too slow compared to the general flow of traffic than by adhering to a number on the sign. Of course if you're in Jersey or down south with an out of state license plate, you'll be pulled over regardless for doing anything not strictly adhering to the law. That includes the catch 22 rule of not obstructing the flow of traffic and not exceeding the speed limit.

Definitely not on a 6 speed SS, or regular ZL1 I imagine. 80 is under 2k for sure, I never check the rpms at 90 but I imagine they're barely over 2k.

I'd think auto's are even better.

The speed limit in my area is 55mph. So I shall obey all traffic laws and keep it a 55 or below. If I feel I can't maintain such self control then I shall add a tune that shuts the throttle down at 60mph. Some say I'm just too tough on myself but whatever.

This also surprised the hell out of me when I first got mine. Coming from my M3 with Ohlin coilovers, the car was super composed at speed, but you felt the bumps and the speed with them.

In the SS 1LE, it is not only composed, but smooth as well. 120MPH feels the same as 70MPH. It truly is amazing how consistent the ride/composure stays as the speed increases well into triple digits.

My A10 cruises at 80-90 like a kitten. Tap the gas and it's ready to jump.
