I believe the LT5 will show up in a gen 7 Camaro. That SC won't fit under the hood of the current gen 6. No new engine will ever be shown in a Camaro until it has been in a Corvette first. Until GM moves to a new engine in a ZR1 it will remain there only. JMO

I believe the next ZL1 use a twin-turbo V8, either 5.4 or 5.5 liters in displacement. That should also be the engine in the highest-performance C8 Variants, but the engine is already in the late stages of development. I'm doubting that we'll see a Z28 or Z/28 this generation, but that makes me think that they'll have one ready for the first year of Gen 7. There's a new 6.2L OHV engine coming in the base C8 that will make 500hp or more, but that should be used in the next Camaro SS. There's also a smaller displacement DOHC TT V8 in development that should be in the middle-tier C8, and THAT is what I expect to see in the next Z/28. It should make about 700hp, which is a huge amount for a track-focused car.

ZL1 1LE with upgraded 10 speed auto, drivetrain features and DSSV calibrations just released so I guess they aren't quite done with the 6thgen just yet.

For the ZL1 1LE, this transmission gets a new Track Mode calibration, and the way it interacts with Chevy's clever Performance Traction Management system and electronic limited-slip differential has also been changed. There's also a new oil pan for the transmission and additional cooling added for the steering gear, and Chevy even modified the ZL1 1LE's Multimatic DSSV shocks to deal with the quicker shifts of the auto. But beyond that, this is the same thing that's available in the regular ZL1.

The LT4 in your car completely negates your point.

LT4 showed up in the Z06 before the ZL1.

I was referring to his last statement - until GM moves the ZR1 to a new engine or stops producing it.

The LT4 comes in both the Camaro and Corvette at the same time, and well before the LT5 ZR1 debuted.

My point is that GM has already made a Camaro with the same power available as the most powerful Corvette available at the same time.

True, but not the most powerful available for each generation, just at that particular point in time during the generations.

aston martin just showed off a 1000hp NA v12...for whatever that's worth.

i mean it is for a 3 million dollar car so there's that liitle hurdle.

Apparently GM was already working on the ZR1. That’s why the LT4 was made available to other cars.

We didn’t know the LT5 was being developed when the LT4 was released. At that time (fall 2014) some swore there was nothing beyond the LT4 and it wouldn’t make it into the Camaro. The Camaro was doomed to be Corvette’s second fiddle.

GM could already be working on the next great engine.

I believe I read in Road & Track that LT5 was in Beta II at the time LT4 was announced in '14, so LT5's been around for a while.
