They say its the leveling sensor that needs to be replaced. They should have the part tonight or by tomorrow morning.

Yup, they didn't disconnect it and broke it (the leveling sensor is what i meant when I said ride height sensor in my first post). Pretty common for shops that don't know about them. The shop should foot the bill on that.

Exactly they're definitely going to foot the bill in this case. They tried to place the blame on GM by saying these sensors don't last long and to expect a recall...yeah right

There are lots of reported cases of accidentally broken sensors, but no cases of random failures. Indeed your shop needs to foot the bill for their incompetence.

Exactly. We have a 2008 Escalade with over 130k miles on it and it still has the same sensors on it with 0 problems.

I’m also going to say they broke the sensor. Though it would have probably been a good idea to let everyone reading this thread know why the car is being repaired (i.e. It was stolen and damaged). Sounds like the thieves damaged the backing plates when they stole the wheels.

Assuming you’re just getting stock replacement ZL1 wheels, you shouldn’t need to do anything special other than having the TPM sensor positions learned.

As far as the ride height sensor goes, I’m not sure if GM has a calibration procedure to set the “zero point”. The BMWs with air suspension have a calibration like that, but that’s much different than the MRC on the ZL1. If the sensor arm is adjustable, I could see there being a procedure to make sure the module knows the ride height. If it’s not adjustable, it seems like a calibration would be unnecessary.

I'm going to have them save the old height sensor, there might be a way to see if its adjustable. There is a possibility the thieves might have damaged it in the process. When I went to pick up the car, the "Service Suspension" warning came on before I even left. They might've ignored the warning before, thinking it would've cleared on its own (stating it would clear after 50 miles but didn't) In either case, I brought it back to have it looked into - but there's always a possibility it might've been damaged in the shop.

There is an adjustment arm (If you've ever dealt with R/C cars it looks exactly like the little arm that goes from the steering servo to the suspension) but that piece is likely fine. You just need to pop it off from the sensor using a trim removal tool and pop it back on. No adjustment or calibration needed.
