Thumbs up Martin Chevrolet - Crystal Lake, IL - Alignment

Just wanted to give a shout out to Martin Chevrolet in Crystal Lake, IL for a great job on a Track alignment I had done on my Camaro SS 1LE (and for their patience with me). I specifically asked for Paul Baumgartner, who is their Shop Foreman, Master Certified Technician, and Corvette & ZL1 Specialist to work on my car, as he's "the" high performance guy there. He's pretty well known on the Corvette forums, too.

Mike Hubbard, one of the service managers, asked Paul to come up to the service desk where we went over the car, talked about what I was looking to have done, and why (HPDE/Track events). I gave them the exact specs I was looking to get, and Paul nailed it. They were spot on and exactly even on both sides. Just to note, make sure you provide the specs you're looking for, otherwise you'll get the Preset Chevrolet Track specs.

Additionally, while waiting for the car, Mike brought out a printout for me of the Chevrolet recommended break-in procedures, fluid upgrades/changes (oil, brake fluid, diff fluid, etc.) that should be made prior to tracking the car. I knew a lot of this due to my research, but the fact that they went through the time and effort to provide me with the information to make sure I was aware of the recommended procedures highlights that they are a dealer that works WITH you to meet your needs. It wasn't a "done with your alignment, see ya" situation. We discussed that I was going to be tracking the car, and they made sure I was aware of all the additional recommended steps that went along with that.

I know many people are skeptical about taking their Camaros to a dealer, so I wanted to share my experience to give those in the Chicago area an option if looking. Mike and Paul's attitude the entire time was to make sure I was happy and got what I wanted. My biggest concern was making sure my car was in good hands (which is why I sought out Paul), and they were proactive in making me feel like my car was in good hands right out of the gate. They're not the closest dealer to me, but they've earned my business going forward.

I second everything said. Paul is a great guy and the only tech who works on the Camaro and Corvette Platform. I don’t have any experience with Mike as I’ve only delt with Aaron over there and his communication is excellent as well.
