Anyone Painted the stock silver painted wheels black?

I see Chevrolet even offers the 5 spoke SS painted wheels in black. I'd like to have my buddy who owns a body shop paint my silver wheels black for me but I'm not sure how well it would hold up to use? Anyone done this? Would you recommend doing it?

As long as they are prepped properly, the paint on the rims will hold up just fine. Another competitive option would be to have them Powder Coated.

Otherwise, poke around on the forums and wait for a set to pop up.

Thanks. I'm definitely going to look into powdercoating. Just thought maybe there were added headaches with balancing and keeping it from narrowing down the stud holes??

I'm had wheels powder coated many times. There isn't an issue with balancing or lug holes. The finish is many times stronger than any paint and will last a long time. I've been running powder coated wheels on my DD Camry for over 100K miles without a single chip or nic. My buddy did the wheels on his C7 about a year ago and it turned out great.

Find a local guy that specializes in wheels. Around me I can get them done for $100 a wheel.

I plasti-dipped mine white for a while, then when that got tatty I removed it and painted them white instead, with a crystal clearcoat over that. No issues as yet but I'm sure it'll get scraped next time I need new tyres. Powder-coating is your only option for longevity I believe.

No issues with regards to balancing.
