Rotate 3r's....yes or no?

Can I rotate the supercar 3r tires side to side, or is that a bad idea?

Yes... They have no left-right designation or forward arrow guide. (I always rotate left/right on a 2-day HPDE event... I get great even wear as well)

rotate left to right...I do it often...just relearn the tire positions with the appropriate relearn tool.

If you can keep track of where each wheel/tire is, would that even be necessary? Wouldn't a simple translation from "LF tire low" to "it's really on the RF" be good enough?

True but I like to look at tire pressures on track in the DIC and prefer to have the tires read in the correct position. It is so simple why not do it. Just remember on a 6spd you have to set the parking brake before this procedure can be performed.

I never did rotate mine but I did flip mount them once as the outside shoulders were getting thin so I could use the inside shoulder to maximize tire life and got really even tire wear

Just did a 2-day up at VIR (Mon/Tue) with CHIN, and did my standard L/R swap after Day1 and then did the ReLearn... I like to just keep track of the starting and ending on all 4 after a session. (Side note... started 29cold... became 35warm... car was outstanding!)

I always thought you could not flip a tire that has an outside and inside denoted? Somthing about the way the tire is constructed?

What kind of laps did you run and do you have any video (maybe PDR)? VIR is so much fun!

Maybe you wont have 100% the same grip due to the tread block size difference from inside to outside but they still felt the same to me on both sides, I would rather get my money's worth out of a tire vs. cording out the outside shoulder and still having half tread on the inside.

The ones marked with "OUTSIDE" on the side of the tire can be swapped left to right. They are non-directional. Just keep the side marked outside on the outside. Tires marked with an ARROW are directional, but I think there are fewer of those around now days. Too many installers were getting it wrong!

right - that's what I thought, but the post above suggests "flipping" the tire - i.e. using the "outside" side on the inside. I am curious if there is any good reason to not do this as I agree- it can certainly extend the tire life for track usage.

Best guess - you'd probably be sacrificing a little performance. Which might be linked to reasons other than asymmetry in the tread design.

Anybody else here remember the Michelin XAS tire?
