Just so everyone is aware, there is no difference part number wise between the NPP exhaust for a 2019 versus a 2018 SS. The difference is in the tune of when the ECU opens and closes the actuator and the engine timing/firing itself. The pops/crackle are a fuel combustion outside the cylinders in the exhaust. In fact, even in silent mode you can hear them being muffled. Still there, but muffled.

So unless you go to a quieter exhaust, you will not lose the pops nor will they be less frequent. Just louder.

This is research done because I am having my NPP exhaust warranty replaced and I was scared of losing the pops.

I have this as well. I can say my stock NPP didnt seem to have alot of pops and crackles unless the car was cold and the outside temp was cooler. I still don't hear alot of pops and crackles with the Borla either. Maybe I was spoiled by my Roush Mustang I traded in on the 1LE. The exhaust on that thing was rediculously loud and gave off a ton of pops and crackles any time you let off the accelerator.

Awesome man, thank you so much for the info. What happened w/ your NPP exhaust, why are you having to deal with the warranty? 2019?

You should go for it at that price....but, make sure it has the valves. That sounds pretty low for price, so it may not.

It has the valves! Listed for 1.6k, using a coupon code lowers it to 1360..no tax no shipping! D: I live in california, though so I gotta see if I want to deal with jerk cops...(new exhaust law)

When the valves open, whether it be switching modes or when accelerating. There is a very loud metal on metal squeaking sound that can be heard in the cabin and with windows down. It's very annoying, can be intermittent, has a TSB attached to it, I had it lubed twice before GM approved the exhaust replacement. It's a more common issue on Corvettes. I have a running thread I've been updating so incase it happens to anyone else they can find it.

It's purely a first world annoyance problem, like the rattle, but it's so good damn annoying when your big V8 muscle car squeaks like a mouse when you are trying to sound mean and throaty....

Oh jeez, glad you got it approved now. Let's say that I encountered the same issue on my stock NPP, if I switch to a Borla w/ NPP, would the problem go away? As in, is the problem tied to the stock NPP axleback or is it deeper than that?

Its tied to the valve INSIDE the exhaust, which is welded in and shut. That's why the whole exhaust has to be replaced. So yes in theory it would go away.
