Key fob issue (?)

I’ve noticed that my Camaro doesn’t always immediately acknowledge that the fob is in proximity. For example, I often have to press the (handle) button more than once to unlock and I just had to press the fob 2-3 times for the car to lock. It’s like the car either isn’t immediately receiving the signal or it doesn’t want to accept it.

I don’t recall if these cars inform you of a low fob battery or not? (Most of my previous did) Replacing that will likely be my first step. If that fails, I think I will try (re)learning the key.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m not sure if it is really an issue but it is annoying. :/

There is a TSB about this I had this happen on my 17 2lt and they had to replace the unit that is in the trunk and that fixed the issue for me.

Well I just ordered some new batteries, so hopefully that solves it.

Thanks! So I'm assuming that these cars don't really notify of the low battery, as many do. My wife's SUV, for example, will notify of "low fob battery", for a LONG time... and we've never had one totally die yet.

Ironically, when I took mine out for a ride the other day, there was a message on the cluster stating "remote low battery".. Or something like that. I guess I'll be changing mine as well.

Ha! I'm thinking/hoping mine is in limbo of not having enough charge but not having a low enough charge to trip the notification. I guess I will see!
