Mad intake manifold with ported throttle body

So I plan as part of my build to add an msd atomic intake manifold but buying a ported throttle body I've been told it ain't recommended by certain shops around me . For anyone with experience with this. is it really worth getting or just doing msd atomic manifold only? Throttle bodys are pretty expensive so i don't wanna waste 300$+on nothing. Thanks in advance

I’m on the fence with this as well...

For the $ I’m going to gamble on the MSD IM & the Tick performance modded GM 95mm TB. No adapter

I have the MSD and 95mm ported TB combo from Pray Performance... 100% worth it.

I would get it and look for another shop too, they obviously have no experience with 6th gen if they are willing to say that. 6th gens have been out for over 3 years already with tons and tons of data and comparisons proving they are worth it.

Pray just had a bolt-on only M6 car with his ported stock IM/TB combo run 10.85 @ 126. I am not convinced the MSD does anything for a bolt-on car in the 1/4mi. Perhaps for roll racing events it has a slight edge. Heads/cam combos do benefit from the ported MSD/95.

Just look at a bolt on car dyno where the HP dumps up top and compare it to a bolt-on car that has at least the MSD as the HP doesn’t fall off. I’d say that’s big time usable power that will translate to much better time and the all mighty Butt-Dyno

I think the OP is talking about a Ported TB, is it worth it or not.

Unfortunately, buddy, the butt dyno is wrong. The testing below and the testing on three other cars have proven no significant gains from ported stock to ported MSD. The up top power just isn't there long enough to make a significant difference. The car below had a 4C converter, ported heads and was dialed in for the MSD. The ported heads are the only thing that had the ported MSD up on power anywhere in the graph. Ported MSD numbers are on top. I have produced many other graphs in other threads proving the point. Now ported MSD/TB will show gains over completely stock.

Real quick bud where did I mention ported stock to ported MSD? So your saying you will not notice upper gains going from the stock manifold to an MSD... unless you port the manifold OR at least add the 95mm TB/Ported as well? Bolt on car, not Heads...etc

Help me understand what you’re saying as No I do not search the forums for past threads like some people with endless time.
