Wait, really? Is the "hold the start button for 5-7" seconds the important bit? I've done "press the start button without the brake down" (it is an auto) before, and the electronics do come on, but that option in the settings is greyed out. But I haven't tried holding it down for that long. Is that the trick?

Instead of buying new, just make your car yours! Would be much cheaper. Sounds like all you need to do is debadge it, and put some new wheels on it. I personally like the wheels but am interested in something lighter.

And take the stripe off, which I'm a bit concerned about. Is that something that can be done safely? I have no idea whether it was parked outside previously, in which case the paint that's not covered with the stripe could be discolored from UV, and be a different color than under the stripe?
