It's been a long time coming, but I finally got my Camaro SS!

That's my new (to me) 2016 Camaro SS, parked next to my 2014 WRX. I've got a car for any weather now. The Camaro has the red leather inserts, dual mode exhaust, magnetic ride control, sunroof, and the SS2 package.

My uncle used to race an IROC-Z in the Players GM series, back in the mid/late 80s. I've had a soft spot for Camaros ever since then. When the 2010 came out, I was interested, but the style just didn't quite do it for me. I thought about getting an early 90's one, but I'm kind of done with the hassles of old vehicles. When I saw the 2016 styling changes, handling improvements, etc etc, I was totally sold!

Late last summer, I decided it was finally time to get serious about it, started looking around at used prices, tucking some money aside. Was planning to get a new one in July. But then, in December (shitty weather for test driving an SS, lol) I found a used one with all the options I wanted, with color/appearance I liked. Then I got a new job this year with a hiring bonus, and that was that!

I'll probably still trade it in later this year on a new one, but now it's a question of whether I get the 2018 towards the end of the model year, or wait for the 2019. Really depends on if the 2019 ends up with the 10-speed automatic, and doesn't completely screw up the front/rear styling.

Pretty damn excited. I've only had it for a week yet, and haven't had tons of time to drive it. I don't think I've had it past 50% throttle, and with how wet things have been around here, that had me goin' a bit sideways.

Welcome & nice car. Any plans for mods upcoming?

I'd keep vs. trade it in soon personally.

Congrats: You got the right options with MRC and NPP. That makes the car more fun, tour mode when you want to relax, and turn on the snarly exhaust and tight suspension with Track mode.

No mod plans. It's way more power than anything else I've driven, so it'll keep me pretty happy in that respect for a long time.

I'm not personally a _huge_ fan of the black wheels and stripe. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks fantastic together like that, especially with the black bowties too. It's just not the style I would have chosen for myself. That's why I want to get a new one. That was my original plan, but was apprehensive about dropping $57k on a car I'd barely even had a chance to drive. The dealers would never let me take a new SS for a drive, and I was having a hard time finding any used 2016+ ones to take for a drive. My personal choice would be white, no stripe, the "normal" wheels, and take the SS logos off. That's what I'll do if I buy new.

Yeah! I was pretty dead set on those options, plus sunroof. I have the steering fixed in tour, the exhaust fixed in sport, and the ride linked to the drive mode. Love that setup! Just wish I could change the exhaust mode _before_ starting the car so it's not _always_ so loud firing up.

Get in the car and close the door. Do NOT step on the clutch. Hold the start button down for about 5-7 seconds. The electronics will boot up and you can go in and change the mode to Stealth and then start the car normally.

If you got an auto, not sure how you'd do it, don't own one.

With the auto , just don't step on the brake. All the rest is the same.
