My concern is that they blame it on something that I've done when maintaining the wheels.

I have one wheel that’s got a few of those spots starting to develop. I showed it to the dealership service rep last fall and he said they would replace it under warrentee next spring when it comes out of hibernation. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before they all start to do the same thing and the wheels will all have to be refinished.

I have noticed that my wheels are starting to develop some spotting, and under an LED light, they are brownish even after cleaning my wheels, good thing I have a set of gloss black M017 wheels coming in as well as new tires, so I may go in to the dealership and see about replacing my stock wheels.

They’re not really that bad, it’s just that paint has no place on a wheel. That’s the problem.

I'll be sending my winter wheels here to be powder coated in the black chrome PVD. Very durable and looks killer on any car.

I treat them just like a painted body panel. Nothing but suds and I use a paint coating in the spring and fall.

I have the same setup, and the rims have the same issue. Not even close to as bad as yours though. I only use soap and water on my rims. Dealer said he would have his alloy guy repair them for $65 a pop. Suddenly brake dust isn't so bad lol

Interesting that it's only on the driver's side. Have you ever rotated the tires? If not, maybe this started as stone strike damage from on-coming cars.

My dealer warranted and had professionally refinished for me. No need to have them replaced...you will just run into the new wheels having the same issue.

If there is one thing I've noticed in reviewing these forums and researching issues with our cars it is that GM doesn't fix a damn thing. The A8 shudder is present accross all models using it and has been present far before the Camaro...I'm sure GM painted wheels are about the same. Crappy on GMs part, but what can you do? GM accessory certificate?

This is a great idea, get an accessory certificate or credit that you can use against a next service if possible. Because when they repair it with paint, it’s just going to happen again. Save your money for powdercoat or Better yet, a set of OEM spec aftermarket wheels that are already powdercoated.

Got the 2 on my driver's side replaced yesterday, and the 2 on the other side just recently started fading. Likely going to bring it up during my next oil change to replace the 2 on the other side, but any issues after that I'm just going to bite the bullet and get them powder coated.
