Videos show black

Every time someone posts a video all it shows is a black box. How can I fix it?

I am using Windows 7 on my work laptop. Internet explorer. Yes I know, laugh, but it's the only thing GM supports reliably so I can't update my laptop unless I don't want to use it for diagnostics and programming anymore.

Flash should install unless admin rights restricted? Make sure IE is reset, reboot and go to Adobe and try reinstall...allow permissions when it asks...should work...good luck!

hmm, I've installed flash player again and it's all current. It even shows their test animations working correctly. There only seems to be a problem when with videos posted here.

... Still? (Known good link)
Sometimes it's the post that gets screwed up.

That shows as a black box too. If I right click on the box it pulls up a menu and in grey lettering it says "movie not loaded"

OK..I think you need to do an IE(you are using IE?) reset and pc reboot..something in the permissions is F'd and this is the usual fix for my customers(30+yr PC tech)...or try d/l Firefox, Chrome etc and try a diff browser...also check your programs and uninstall any stupid tools bars etc....good luck!

BTW - I also run ADWcleaner and malwarebytes free scans when necessary...

I appreciate the help, I'll reset and reboot. I don't have any toolbars, they seem to be a bigger hassle than help. I have only the software it requires to run GM programs and equipment.

I'm stuck with 7. The module GM uses to communicate between vehicle and computer doesn't work well with 10. I'll just DL chrome and use that for browsing I guess.
