I have done it a lot and usually use the "no need for a test drive unless the number work" as part of the bargaining. No need to waste anyone's time unless the deal is going to happen.

Yes, both the Camaro and Miata were both bought with no test drives.

Wait, I did test a 2SS a few months before placing my order.

I always take a test drive. I want to know how the seats fit me, how I can see the gauges, how I can reach controls, how comfortable I feel driving it, etc. If it is a used car I also want to know if there are any apparent mechanical problems with how it runs and drives. The first Camaro I bought I was debating between it and the Mustang. The dealer I eventually bought from was both a Ford and Chevy dealer so I could go from one to the other and back again. This was very helpful and I felt much more comfortable and safe in the Camaro.

Even if it's slightly used I always do a test drive.

Salesman tried convincing me I'm not allowed to do a test drive for a demo unit 2SS on sale. Said it's too high powered for a test drive and I can test it after I buy it. I ended up going to a different salesman and he gave it to me right away once he realized I'm not some young tire kicker. He said the other salesman is too new and can't tell the difference between a tire kicker and an actual buyer. I was able to weed out some bad brakes on the demo one.

Moral of the story is always test drive if it's used.

I bought my new 5th gen without a test drive, so, yes I would buy a car without a test drive!
