Do you guys use wheel wax on painted rims?

I have read to use what ever protection you use on your paint, but others say the wheels need extra protection because heat, salt, whatever... and wheel wax is especially made for that. Is this bs?

Wheel wax takes too much time, And does not get into all the nooks and crannies…

for 3 years I do below what's in my signature And they still look perfect. And there is absolutely nothing easier....

With all that said, you need to change your brake pads out to the powerstop or a non-dustless Pad. Otherwise you’re just gonna chase dust on these wheels forever.

Check out Glen e's how-to stuff.
Here is a good place to start.
Wheel stuff is in a link in his signature.

LOL... Slaving over wheels is near and dear to my heart, I did it for years, then I found Hydro2 and other water soluble silicas....

With the dust-from-hell stock pads, it takes longer to clean the 20 spokes per wheel on a ZL1 than it takes to clean the entire rest of the car. And if you are gorrilla fisted like me you can forget about reaching across the insides of the 11 inch rims. First I paid the $ for Gtechniq crystal serum black and EXO. Then installed powerstop pads on all 4 corners. Both are worth every penny, IMO. Just a light spray with a hose and they're clean. Others may say you can do similar with much less spend, but I'm very happy.

Glen is right. Modern hydrophoic sprays > wax. Whether spray n wipe like Reload, or spray n spray like Hydro2 ... they last longer, are easier to apply, <insert favorite superlative>, bla bla bla.

Wax is so last decade.

Hydro2 is the best product I've found for my wheels thanks to Glen's posts.

Anyone found a good price on Hydro2? Somehow the bottle I had emptied out, and now I have to replace it :(

The best thing that I did when I bought my new wheels is to ceramic coat them. I did the DIY solution from Chemical Guys (carbon flex). Couple that with some PowerStop Z26 pads, and nothing really sticks to them.

I use regular wax on the wheels and then I put on a coat of Adam's Brilliant Glaze and very little brake dust sticks and wheels really shine.

Jerome - I just went to the big "A" to look at the Z26 pads and there are 2 or 3 different part numbers for the rear. Could you provide the part number for the ones you installed? Thank you!

I have an SS 1LE, so I used 1718 on the front and 1405 on the rear.

Has anyone used Meguiars Hot Rims Wheel and Tire Cleaner? I have 20" 5-split spoke bright silver painted aluminum wheels and am not sure what is safe to use.
