When you use a flash drive, do you set up directories or just put all of the files in the root directory? I've never used one. What file types other than MP3s will it play? Thanks.

I have a playlist in iTunes and copy them into a folder. Then I copy it onto an empty flash drive. I believe most, if not all of them are .mp4.

Just copy all of the files from your computer to a USB flash drive, doesn't have to have a specific folder created. I would make sure that they are .mp3, none of those quirky proprietary file formats that Apple insists on using.
