2019 purchase

My grandson is interested in buying a new 2019. I have looked on the gmfamilyfirst site and have configured a few options I think will suit him. I've checked out both the 4 cylinder and the 6 cylinder versions, both with the 8spd auto. Not getting too crazy with options I've considered the 3lt with the rs package. Looking at the riverside Blue.
Am I missing any must have items here? This will be his first new car purchase.
Thanks

1. If he is ok taking on debt with a car that will have tons of depreciation, not getting out of this one for 2.5 years without 5k down.

Kind of funny here, I try to get some opinions on options from Camaro owners and the post gets pigeon holed in some stupid price, ordering, tracking, dealer section. NOT HELPFUL ONE IOTA. Whomever stuck this here is a moron. I don't want dealer information, I want owner opinions. Christ Almighty.
How about a bench racing section?

Blind spot monitoring could be very useful if this is also his first sports car, and you'll definitely want to do something about the exhaust, either order the NPP option or consider going aftermarket, the regular one is just too underwhelming (had it myself in a V6).

For the record, many have experienced the shuddering problem with the A8 transmission, lots of threads here. Mine works fine, so I can't say more to this, but your grandson may need to do a few dealer visits unless GM did fix it with the new 2019 flush procedure. You'll want to make sure the dealer's service dept is reasonable and competent.

Good luck to your grandson, he's in for an awesome treat with this car, it's smile factory left and right

I wouldn't purchase a V6 or T4 new unless it was a convertible that was going to be kept long-term. Depreciation on couples will be a beast as they compete with fleet cars. Buying a used 2-3yo coupe on the other hand may be a great move. I would stay away from the A8: plenty of posts/threads in the problems/issues subforum for why albeit mostly in the v8 cars.

Your post got moved to this subforum because this is where posts like these belong. Calling the mods morons isn't recommended.

Just a reminder that if you get the 4 cylinder it takes premium gas and the V6 doesn't.

Thanks for the replies.
Exhaust system is duly noted as is the octane rating for the v6.
It'll likely be the v6, sure wont be a manual trans though.

Honestly, if you were looking at a fully loaded V6, in my honest opinion it would be worth it to consider a 1SS with the A10. The A8 shudder is a nightmare. 4.5k miles on my A10 and there are NO shudders of any kind. For the peace of mind, something to consider.

Just my two cents.

I’d be leery about an auto with all the shudder complaints.
Have you thought about a 1LE package 2.0?
They got great reviews. Little more aggressive. Little more aggressive in looks department too.
Seen a younger guy with a black one that was a 1LE. It was a great looking car. He loved it.

You on Yellowbullet by chance 396ssrat?

Yeah, I agree that it's a problem, not so much the technical aspects (as I'm almost certain the shudder can be fixed with a revised tune) but more so in the way GM have been handling it for years now. Nevertheless, it wasn't a dealbreaker for me, and I think the fat lady hasn't sung yet on this issue.
