Got Lucky

Well last night i was packing up Camaro and trailer for the weekend for Laguna Seca.

Thiefs tried to break into Suburban.

Luckily all they did was destroy the door handle and kicked in door.

Those older subs are relatively easy to steal.

Wow. You dodged that one. They were amateurs. Those things can be taken in under 60 seconds if you know the weak spot.

Yeah totally got lucky they were amateurs. The whole handle is snapped off. There’s not much left to do. Pop the plate and pull the rod lever.

Sucks as i dont have my RV concrete slab done yet. I may have to find a way to get that done sooner then later.

Not many options out there for guaranteed deterrent.

Lojack but $$$$$

Maybe a wheel boot or take coil plug wire off everytine i go to tow?

Glad you made out as best as could be expected. I really hate scumbags. It's one thing if you're going to ruin your life but leave other people alone. If caught, let's put them in the back of your trailer with a few alligators. I'm so afraid of this, I plan on maybe getting the Ravelco and I know thieves are smart(when it comes to stealing). I have it pretty secure at my house(so I hope). It's the Walmart or mall trips that scare me. I'm constantly checking my phone every 5 minutes. Glad you still have your car and now go to the doctor and ask for anxiety meds because you'll be on edge for a while.

He's in CA. (like me) Shoot someone for property theft and YOU risk being sued by the perps AND going to jail. One Texas representative recently said, "Thieves only carry guns to keep you in check." That's not a joke. We're fooked.

But glad you dodged a metaphorical bullet.

Wow, you sure got lucky (as mentioned) for sure. I had a 90's model Chevy pickup and when I was trailering anything I would pull one of the fuses out when stopping to eat or stay overnight somewhere. The fuse panel was on the lower left side of the dash, easy to get to and iirc the fuse I would pull was on the bottom left side. Either fuel or ignition fuse. That way I didn't have to pop the hood.

Say all the bad things about Ohio, as I never believed it become better than Texas for laws. Ohio just legalized the stand your ground law. You have a right to protect yourself anywhere you have a legal right to be, in Ohio. So I just need to bring Ohio dirt with me into CA and I’m good. Ha!

At some point my daughter Ellie May had me install a kill switch so that my GN, an easy car to steal, could not be hot wired but that does not prevent the tow away.

Yeah CA has made it really hard for is gun owners.

I didnt think about fuses. Great idea. Thanks.

Any insurance peeps out there?

Wondering if the $1500-$2000 claim is worth reporting?

Will my insurance rate go up?

I have 4 bikes, 3 autos and the trailer?

I figure i can fix for $300 plus my labor with used stuff.

Gun laws= The best reason to not live in California among other things. Glad this ended as good as it could for you though.
