Even as a Mustang owner, still lurk here on occasion and love the 5G 1LE
Originally joined because I wanted a Camaro SS 1LE in 2015 in race red. Long story short ended up with a 2016 Mustang GT performance pack 3.73 gears and manual trans, loaded.
Still love to see the 1LEs go by (very rare when it does happen) in person. Especially in "red hot". I always give a thumbs up to a nice Challenger and/or Camaro when I see them so no brand loyalty or animosity. Could've just as easily ended up with that 1LE had things worked out. Still do love my 5.0 - some things I don't like, but that's with any car. And I hate car salesman and love owning a car from new with all service records so might as well keep it forever. In a nutshell, love seeing and hearing about everybody's cool car here especially the 1LE's. |

Fast forward almost 30 years later I still wanted a Camaro and the 5th Gen peaked my interest. I was having troubles finding a nice used one with a manual in black at the time and entertained Corvettes and yes even opened searching at Mustangs. Never went to actually look at one but you have to admit even way back in the 80's the 5.0 manual was a blast to drive. Anyone saying differently is just not a car enthusiast in my view. If ya love one you have to have some love for the other . There are a few Mustang folks here.. You are not out of place. We are all one big family that share a common interest or two . Enjoy & Happy Holidays!

I've owned a couple fords in my days;
69 Cougar XR7 69 Mustang 79 Capri turbo RS 87 Cougar XR7 They were all fun cars. I would have no problem owning a Shelby Mustang but I prefer the look of the Camaro. For the record there are currently 2 fords in my family, 2008 Mustang 2010 F150

Welcome and thanks for sharing your experience. I've always been a Camaro guy (owned a new '77, a new 2014 2LTRS, and now a 2014 2SSRS), but I love Mustangs and Challengers and lots of other cars too. I'd own one of each if I could afford it and had a place to keep them.
One of my sons is a Mustang fanatic, and two of my other vehicles are Fords - I love my 2008 F250 Lariat for plowing - it's a beast - and we could always fit the 5 kids and now grandkids in the Expedition. I was lucky enough to find my dream car (Camaro) this past summer and will never sell it, but I'd be proud to have Mustang parked next to her. :-)

I was in the same boat when I found my 1le, but I was assuredly torn between the Challenge Scat Pack and the 1le. I'd look at the 5.0 GT PP in the mix too.
All great muscle cars. But alas my car shows up on radar a 1le with 4500 miles and Recaros, I was done.

Sadly when I went to look at Camaros, all the GM dealers are those mega volume dealers who didn't seem to want to sell anything they didn't have and they all had white V6s and whatnot. |

I had a weird experience with dealers back then as well. I almost bought a new Camaro SS in 2002. If the dealer had let me test drive it alone, I would have bought it. But, they had to be in the shotgun seat, so I couldn't really get a feel for it. Funny, as I was a 42 year old stable person who had lived in town for 17 years at that time. Oh well. I've got what I want now.

Yeah back in 2015 I bought a 06 charger r/t. Then my wife was jealous so we got her a 2010 camaro 2ss. Long story I totalled my charger and then upgraded to a 06 charger srt8 and then totalled that one too. Then she totalled her camaro and I bought another 06 charger srt8 and got t-boned in that one. So I always liked my wife's camaro so back in May I went and bought a 2012 camaro 2ss but I bought it cheap because it's high mileage 155k but runs perfect and I've been slowly fixing all the problems and I'm almost done. What I like the most about it is all the parts are so cheap and now I've fell in love with the car.
