Ok, I’m going to defend Cali for a bit, especially after taking a train ride recently through the state and seeing how beautiful it is, especially compared to some other states. Y’all cracking on how restrictive California is but many of you live in states with HOV lanes, vehicles inspections, low speed limits, toll roads, traffic cameras, etc., etc., etc. I live in Michigan and we don’t have any of that garbage and any official who brings it up is basically run out of state. Why do I have to pay twice to drive over a federally funded road and I bet most of those toll contracts are just scams. Many of our freeways in the metro area have 70 mph limits and once up north a bit we have 75 mph and so long as you can buy tabs and insurance, you can drive whatever you want, however you want. No way I could live in a state with all that BS - “Drive Free or Die!”

Don't do that. I might have to move to Mexico if the Greenies get their way. I hear they race their asses off down there.

I used to say I’d move to Canada after really enjoying a few vacations there, but truth be told I’d like to go to Germany or Switzerland. I have friends that have lived in both and miss it. USA is still the greatest country on Earth with freedoms many will never experience, but we are certainly trying to destroy that. So sad. And I’m not talking about brake pads. Change them. Can’t be that big of a deal. I’m talking about freedom from government intrusion, the right of personal safety and protection. I’m a veteran and a police officer for over 25 years. This country is nearing its precipice.

Yes sir it sure is, and it’s a damn shame. Thanks for being one of the many brave officers of this country who fight for freedom and the rule of law! I mean that.

I lived in West Germany for several years in the 80s. You might want to give it a test try before committing.

From what I have heard, just getting a driver's license in Germany is ridiculously expensive. ($2,000-3000?) They are also extremely strict on vehicle safety, aftermarket mods, and inspections.

Things may have changed but when I lived there, it was about $2K for a German national to get a license. Once granted, it was for life unless they lost it. The bad news was that once lost, it was lost for life.

Like I say, that may be different now, I don't know.

Yeah, that's crazy expensive. But I also know they are famous for their road and highway upkeep, so I assume that is where a good portion of the $ is going.

Yep. Loved their roads. This is no joke - the very first thing I noticed after getting picked up at the Portland airport in Oregon when I came home, wasn't the fresh air, the green trees, the wide open spaces...nope - it was the I-5 and how bumpy it was and the vibrations made in my in-laws new Mercury they had at the time. No kidding. WAY different than the autobahn.
