AC squeels with engine RPM

AC makes squeeling noise that appears to be in sync with the RPM of the vehicle in first 2 gears. So what needs to be replaced now?

Mine has a weird squeel at 2500-3000 rpm in 2nd 3rd and 4th only under acceleration. Could this be the same?

If it hasn't broke, why fix it?

I notice the whine is more noticeable when my AC is on, but I don't really notice it with it off.

You need to figure out exactly where the noise is coming from. Will it make the noise while parked if you rev the engine? If so, get a socket extension, or a long screwdriver and use it as a stethoscope. It could be the compressor, the belt tension pulley, or maybe just the belt itself. I would try a little belt dressing first, just to see if the noise goes away. Sometimes it can be a little place where the belt is rubbing the edge of a pulley and it starts squeaking.

Since it's a 2015, have the dealer address it under warranty.

Many have had issues with the belt off by 1 rib on the crank pulley, (myself included). I changed the belt, Gates brand, and squeal stopped.

Do you have a cold air intake? Mine whistles like none other at 2500-3500k rpm.

Yes I have a CAI..I also had one on my 11 lt2 rs. If it's that then that's great. I heard it whistling all the time on the v6...similar in sound and pitch to what I am hearing now.

Maybe because my upgrade is the v8 manual with npp that I can only hear it at those rpms. Again It only happens under acceleration. I can't get it to reproduce in neutral. And there are times that I can't get it to reproduce at all. It's most noticeable when I drive on two lane roads with cars next to me or a cement barrier to bounce the sound back.

Thanks for all the responses.

Same deal on my 2010. Going to change out the belt to see if it fixes. I can here it through the rpms but when i turn the switch off it clears so i know it moving parts related. Hate it when going through a store parking lot. Its a whine but no supercharger whine haha.

Thats your torque convertor. They are loud as hell on both platform Camaros for some reason. Try the belt its a cheap fix. But if that doesnt fix it dont worry its probably your torque convertor.

I thought the same thing as you last year. Is this the same sound you get?

Yeah thats probably your CAI making the noise. Definitely check for loose hoses or bolts to be safe. But If all is well, and not getting a CEL then you're probably good.
