Phone holder?
posting this in this section to see what all you guys are using for phone holders in your Camaro while on the track. I have a ProClip in my DD but a nice firm slam on the brakes and the thing goes flying! I've seen some people suction a mount to the MyLink screen and some attach them to the dashboard. I don't necessarily want to use those methods. Let me know what ya got and post a pic! TIA

Put some padding behind it where it touches the dash like 3m vhb interior attachment tape or else it will scratch the dash plastic. Might not work for recording video from the phone but great for seeing Harry's Lap Timer. Local PCA requires a tether for suction cup mounts so they can't fall near the gas or brake pedal if they fail...I'll try to find some pics of the zip ties I ran behind the the radio screen for the tether then bolted it back in. They are almost invisible. |

Dug up the zip tie tether install pictures. Probably worth the effort for those who track with suction cup mounts as an added layer of safety although I have never had an issue with the suction cup failing to hold on while on track. I usually release and re-lock the it within a few days of going to the track just to be safe along with pushing on the arm as a quick test.
I used this video for loosening the GPS screen. Just had to pop off the plastic trim piece and remove 2x 7mm bolts with a 1/4" ratchet using a 6" extension to get access to attach the zip ties behind the GPS screen. |
