Drag Strip after car upgrades

Recently got Texas speed headers and flex fuel kit installed (was running at 68% ethanol). Car already had upper pully and cold air intake. Just took it out to the strip yesterday after upgrades. Running on the stock goodyears. Traction sucked. Was using launch control at 2,800 RPM with 8% slip. Outside temps were around low 90s. 6 speed manual btw. My time has improved to very low 8s and high 7s for the 1/8th Mile. Before the upgrades I was running mid to low 8s. Never hit into the 7s. Please note this is my 3rd time in my life at the drag strip so I am not experienced in anyway. Looking at the slips my 60 time has improved from last time avg about 2.1 now. Have yet to make it under 2. However my speed went down from like 95 to 90 mph at the finish, even though I am getting faster times. Just wanted to share my numbers and get some thoughts. Will post slip in next post.

Link is vs the hellcat. This guy usually runs mid 7s with drag radials but did not put them on at the time.

Slip is for this race

Nice to see some improvement for the upgrades, do you have slicks on the car? They would help tremendously. The big thing your fighting is the 6speed, very hard to get them to hook with the amount of power you have

Are you using the NLS feature on your car? I have even less experience than you, but it seemed there was quite a pause during the shift? And your launch, I think it was pretty good.

This time is pretty close to what stock automatic LT1's are running.

93 mph in the 1/8th seems a bit low no? I think with better tires and more seat time you will improve a lot, but I would really have hoped the MPH was higher here.

Yea I get a lot of spin even when I shift into second gear. No slicks just the stock goodyears.

Better tires will do miracles, I am told. I thought it would be higher as well. Not sure what is happening. I shift right before redline. Not perfect by any means but I dont miss the shift by a lot. Car was just tuned last week as well. Before the upgrades I was running about 95 to 96 avg from what I recall.

NLS is not the rev-match. NLS allows you to stay on the gas and just stab the clutch and grab next gear, throttle has to be 100% to the floor and people advise being above 5500rpm.

No lift shift. Spell it out and quit confusing the guy.

Get some better tires that don't take so long to warm up. That 60 foot needs work but that's from the bad traction. I'd also say to not use the launch control feature. I believe it's been proven that not using it has better results.

Yes you are spinning a ton, and coming out high RPM on tires is causing some of that

So does the OP use the No Lift Shift? If not, he could try and compare times.

Would U all suggest launching from idle? I’m around 824 RWHP and getting too much spin from about a 2,000 launch

I have not used no lift shift. How would I exactly use it. just dont press the clutch while shifting above 5,000 rpm?

You leave the accelerator pedal to the floor and never lift when shifting...hence the term "No lift shift".
