Mine were just replaced under warranty for water getting in them, so they are available.

You can buy the left and right tail light (part#: 84136775 & 84136776). These are available online and at your local dealer. GM doesn’t offer the set anymore (84136777). If you find a set, it’s probably one of the very few that are left over. It was a lot cheaper to buy them as a set ( $475 vs $600+). I wonder if your dealer ordered them as a set or individually.

Any idea why there would be a $50 core charge on a tail light? I see this on all the online GM parts sites.

I think it's to encourage people to send in their old tail lights. I believe the manufacturer recycles the used parts. They will refund your $50, however, it's not worth it IMHO. It's not a bad idea to have an extra set of tail lights
