EVAP I/M service incomplete with JRC tune
Hello,
I'm really hoping someone with a brain can help me. My chevy mechanic certainly can't. I have a 2010 Camaro, L99 with a recent tune from JRC. The EVAP Monitor test is still reading incomplete. It is the only one. I've done the stupid GM drive cycle test 5 times. Does the JRC tune tune out that test? I would think not. Please help. This stupid thing has to pass inspection as it has a clear sticker that has run out. Thanks /Loren |

You should be able to pass with one system not ready.
It was the evap system on my Camaro that read not ready when I passed a few months ago.

@CamaroFred: I reside in "Live Free or Die" state, where ALL I/M tests have to complete if they are available.

I just talked with Ted over at JRC. The tunes do not touch EVAP system or testing.

Can't you force the evap monitor test while in mode $6 diagnostics.

With the proper scan tool. Your dealer should have been able to do it for you. That's how a real technician tests his work after fixing the evap system. Not tell you to go drive it a few days and bring it back if the cel light comes back on.

Did you disconnect your battery lately? This will cause the readiness info to clear. Doing the drive cycles will pass most readiness but sometimes it takes hundreds of miles for EVAP to pass. Had this happen when putting a new battery in my Avalanche 2 days before getting it inspected. After drives cycles it passed all but EVAP. But in NY we only need to pass 3/4

@Coleroad, This is why I prefaced my initial request with "someone with a brain" My chevy dealership(service) had no clue what mode 6 diagnostics is. Is there a "cheap" scan tool that supports mode 6 diagnostics?
Someone recommended one that was 1100 bucks. Kinda steap. Thanks! /Loren |

I would recommend the ds150. Not sure what the cost is , but is a full functioning bi directional scanner.. Delphiautoparts on YouTube has a great diagnostic series. These videos are like an hour long each, and for many different vehicle systems.

The EVAP readiness definitely takes the longest to complete. During the GM drive cycle, did you do the idle for 3 minutes after a cold start with the air conditioner, rear defroster and all other electrical accessories on? How about the 3 minutes of driving at exactly 55mph? Mine completed very easily after just those two.

In the EVAP test multiple cold starts will be required. You can't just drive around, turn the car off and start it up again. It has to see engine temp and ambient temp nearly the same to be a cold start.

Old thread, but I have this issue. Not a emissions issue for me. I recently did an LSA blower on my LS3 and I have a new EVAP solenoid. I run HP Tuner and I have tune shop I work with locally. All is well and runs fine. Except when I check engine codes I get EVAP incomplete. No idea what the deal is or if I should be worried.
