the camaro holster.
i know there are some other firearms enthusiasts on here so i thought i would throw this idea out there.
inspired by the fact its not exactly comfortable to sit on you gun on road trips and still want to keep it in reach we have made a car holster. bent me up a piece of aluminununuunm flat stock and hit it with plasti dip. seemed like a good anti rattle measure. so far very effective and its a "universal" type holster i bolted to it so it will work with pretty much what ever you are carrying that day. it blends in pretty well and its got a low enough profile you can move the seat forward all the way and its not an issue.

wouldnt that position be a little difficult to draw from? I would rather it be on the passenger side of the console, that is if nobody rides with you.

I think location will vary depending on your height, reach, hand that you draw with, etc. For me I think the OP's location would work pretty well. However, I would just keep my sidearm in my purse but that setup would be nice for when I am traveling in less than desirable areas.

yeah, I'm 6'2" so that may be part of the reason that wouldn't work for me. and the fact that I live in Canada....... but nice work on that man!

That is a nice little setup, but I'm a lefty so that wouldn't work lol. You should experiment with different positions for the holster to see what works best. Maybe one day you may not like that area and would want to move it somewhere else but great idea for the holster.

*disclaimer* un load the damn gun before test fitting!! no unnecessary holes!!!lol
i had been plotting a few different locations and that seemed to work the best for me. i kinda gave my self a requirement box to work in with this. no new holes in the car, plastics or to mount my bracket. i have a good dozen i made up for different spot that didnt pan out the way i wanted it to. drawing from it feels pretty natural from where i sit. you dont have to move your upper body to draw it. just down and it there.

I don't like the idea of the pistol not being under my direct control but I guess concessions need to be made...but I do think maybe a cross-draw holster on your person would be better for car use.

It's not any more or less under your direct control than when it's in my iwb holster?
When you exit the car it goes right back on your hip. That was was going to be its new home under the steering wheel if the console didn't pan out. Sent from the desert.

'Not on my person' means not under my direct control as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, I'm saying I have a different preference.

I like having my holster tucked right in next to the seat belt release. On my body and I can draw while unbuckling if the occasion arises again.
