What say you?

So here's my situation. Back in 2016, I had saved for a ZL1 and you all know the issues and delays. I got sick of waiting and my dealership also had a 2017 SS that had all the options, so I went with no more wait and saving some money.

Fast forward 2+ years and I'm getting the ZL1 itch. I almost pulled the trigger on one in the spring, but panicked at the thought of having a car payment again (it's paid off) and eating all the depreciation. So my car is a 2ss in mint condition with 8700 miles on it. I just got a raise so that would cover a car payment.

So given the situation, if it were you, would you just enjoy what you had, get what you originally wanted or get a C8?

Thanks

not sure what issues or delays, but at the end of the day, it's just a car, if you think that is what you want, do it. If you think ultimately that you will get out of the SS, i'd do it now while you have the low mileage.

For me, I wish I would have just gone with a ZL1 to begin with, but i'm still happy.

Go for the ZL1 is what I say! You will take a hit with your 2017 SS but I don’t think you will regret getting a ZL1. If you can find a low mileage used ZL1 you won’t take a hit in depreciation. I saved around $14,000 over buying new with my used 2017 ZL1 that I bought back in March. I used my 2016 SS as a trade in and had some equity in it too!

The 1LE is a special car and very cool. My friend has a blue 2017 and his is holding value much better than mine.

Very true. None of us are promised tomorrow. Just turned 40 this year.

If you could walk into the dealership tomorrow, trade in your 2SS and lay down cash to cover the rest and not worry about that financially, I'd say go for it. But if you are panicked about having a car payment, that tells me you can't afford this. Be smart, save your cash, enjoy the hell out of your 2SS.

You do have equity in your 2017 SS and better that’s it’s paid off too! You can either sell it outright or do a trade in but seriously check into buying a used ZL1. Check all the cars for sale websites and see if you can find some you might be interested in.

Sometimes in life, you just have to jump, otherwise you'll always live your life between the lines of what's right and wrong, like most people...and as you get older, you'll become more afraid of taking risk. The one that got away, is the one you'll always regret. You've thought about this for awhile, you've been patient, it time to make that move and get out of your logical comfort zone and have some fun... Good Luck!

The SS is probably plenty fun for the street, but I've always favored the Z's more aggressive styling- and what's not to love about owning a supercharged V8?

Do you enjoy the SS every time you drive it?

On the vette, I've always been a camaro guy, but I'm intrigued by the ME as well. The show stopper there is paying MSRP. No way- I'll wait that out and see if there are any major problems.

I'm really hoping GM discounts the Z similar to spring of this year- when I hesitated on a bright yellow car that I'm certain I would've been thrilled with...

I'd keep driving the SS. Pounce when the time is right, and you can get max value/ $.

Buy it. It’s always nerve wracking to spend that kind of cash but if it’s not going to be significant impact on your finances, then that ZL1 is gonna have you smiling even when not driving it!

a C8 would be more tempting to me at that point.how often do you put your foot to the floor in the SS,and how long can you leave it there?the ZL-1 will be more overkill as a daily driver.at least the C8 will be different.

"Panic" on one hand and "Itch" in the other. Life is about choices, sometimes you just have to man up to get what you want in life. Good Luck with your decision.
