It sounds like this VP needs to be demoted to a detailer or fired. That's no way to treat a customer. Just because it's a warranty job doesn't mean you need to alienate the customer and now cause the car to become a lemon. He basically said they're not making any money off of you is a lie. They are, just not the usual rate that they make from an out of warranty customer.
I think the GM of that dealership needs to see the email traffic and fire that douche. Im sorry you had to deal with this but do like you plan. |

Man, I hate to hear this. I just bought a ZL1 two days ago, and reading stuff like this makes me a nervous wreck, considering how hard I work to have things as nice as a ZL1.
I really hope it all works out for the best. |

You’re wasting your time to send a letter to Mary or Al, the owner of the dealership might get a reaction but the VP will lie about what he said. If you can get most of your money back I would take the money and run, write it off as a hard lesson learned. I love Camaros but if a dealer treated me like that I would definitely look into another brand for my next purchase.

Im sure the pure nature of why this car was sitting for 30 days would be all the GM needs to investigate why it sat. It wasn't because they were waiting for parts or word back from GM but because some higher up clown told them to.
Either way, what could have been done is far from this conclusion and a far better one since it can be lemon lawed and he can move on to something else. |

I highly doubt the guy burnt that oil up. To cause that oil to fail would take WAY more than I bet he was putting the car through. Just sayin

I'm just learning about these cars and this is what I've concluded: The ZL1 is a race car minimally prepped for street use, and we're expected to race prep it before hitting the track. Is this clearly explained to purchasers at the dealer?

I'd be very curious to hear how much oil came out of the engine...also maybe the original owner had the oils pump failure and didn't shut the car down immediately.

I don't know, the OP said he was 15 seconds into his 3rd session. Sounds to me like enough track time to toast a 30 wt oil.

Spun bearings have been pretty rare on our engines unless the oil pump also failed.

I'd absolutely be trying to get my money back. Wouldn't trust the dealership to treat my car right and put it all back together perfectly at that point. I'd try the buy back first because GM will be pissed about finding out it sat there for a month bc of a dbag VP told the mechanics not to bother with it. If the money they offer isn't right then lemon law it. Like you, I love my car, but as others said this would forever leave a bad taste in my mouth and I'd always have the thoughts in the back of my head about how good of a job they did putting it back together. Good luck with your decision and outcome.

Plus he is at Watkins Glen. Not exactly known for being a short, low-speed track.
